				William S. Smithers III Bill began his career in the residential construction industry in 1986 with national building giant Ryland Homes. While at Ryland, Bill honed his ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of professionals to produce exceptional results and exceed customer expectations on a consistent basis. Bill's leadership in the areas of product design and communication, coupled with his ability to see the business from numerous points of view, enabled him to achieve high marks in the eyes of his staff, his peers and his customers. Bill learned first hand that the best way to operate a building company was on the basis of open communication, integrity and a systems-driven set of procedures. Bill left Ryland in March of 1995 to pursue his dream of running his own building company. Coe G. Eldredge Coe started into the construction industry while living in Old Town Alexandria, Va. He restored numerous 18th and 19th century buildings, converting them into residential and commercial uses. After moving back out to the country in 1990, Coe also restored several older homes in the area as well as building a few new houses for the first time. This gravitation from the very old to new construction, as well as local roots, adds a perspective to University's Homes approach to building custom homes, thus creating new homes that fit the natural and historical surroundings.
